Polycarbonate is one of the most important engineered plastics, which is transparent, corrosion resistant, self-extinguishing when ignited, has very little dimensional change with time and heat, has very low moisture absorption, and in addition has very good mechanical properties. The molecular chain weight can be tailored during polymerization to give the polycarbonate a different fluidity (MFR) or (MFI). Polycarbonate has a high UV resistance and this property can be further enhanced by adding UV stabilizers.
