Polypropylene (PP)

PP is a semi-hard, transparent, malleable and economical polymer that is produced by propylene polymerization with the help of ZIEGLER-NATTA catalyst. PP can be prepared with different atactic, isotactic and syndiotactic properties. The isotactic glass transition temperature is -10°C and the melting temperature is about 160°C PP. It has good chemical resistance, but is affected by chlorine, nitric acid and other strong oxidants. Although resistant to visible rays, UV rays damage the surfaces of materials made of PP. It is flammable but burns slowly. It is non-toxic. It can have a good heat resistance if there is a proper change in the composition.

PP is available in three types:

– PPH homopolymer polypropylene

– PPC / polypropylene block copolymer

– PPRC polypropylene random copolymer

The most important feature that distinguishes PPRC from others is that it can be used in piping as well as in hot water installations and has the feature of hot plate welding.
